I hereby name this "Lawnmower Awareness Day." I urge people living in rural areas (or even those who live in urban areas, or the 'burbs, anywhere that frogs/toads live) to be wary while lawnmowing. I was out on our old riding lawnmower, mowin' away, and this huge American toad leaps by me. I slammed on the brakes, threw the thing into neutral and turned the key off in a split second. I narrowly missed the guy; luckily he escaped into some tall weeds.
I urge everyone who moweth, to please be careful and watchful for our amphibian (and reptilian) friends out there. I stopped 4 or 5 times on this day to avoid squishing toads. Please pay attention, people!
