Is that bred to a genetic stripe or just a stripe
that you are working with?...........Wicked man!

idealreptiles Sep 19, 2004 05:48 PM

That is awesome!
Did you poduce that?
One was a stripe and one was a yellowbelly het. stripe?
Pics of the whole clutch?
Very cool.
I keep going through my collection looking for what might be a yellownelly but they look so subtle in the pictures....I really have to see one in person as I know there must be quite a few out there that are going un-noticed.

I don't think that yellow bellie was het for genetic stripe. I think it was a straight up yellow belly bred to a cool striped ball python (Not a Genetic Stripe). I am guessing that the Yellow Bellie gene may influence many other mutations out there in ways we can't even imagine. I bet we'll see much more from the Yellow Belly gene.

The Yellow Belly looks like it may be the most exciting mutation yet. Who would have thought?

SWEET! The Balls just keep getting better! You gotta love it!

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, you hatch out that lil' dude....That thing is bad to the bone!! Is that a genetic stripe mother or the stripe that you bred your Mojave to to get those really insane looking Striped Mojaves....See those makes me want a Yellow Belly even more now....Just stunning!!!

Actually Jeremy Stone also used a "gold striped" ball to produce his crazy Striped Mojaves......

I have a feeling that we both are working with a similar type of Striped animal.....

Thanks for the kind words......

Sorry for the mix up man....It's hard to keep track of who's breeding what and what's being done with morphs....So the striped you use is co-dom/dom?? Or not enough breeding has been done with it yet to totally know its genetics?? If it turns out to be a genetic co-dom/dom stripe, u think that will effect the genetic stripe market???

Im not making any claims that they are co-dom, but somethign happened when I combined the 2 morphs......

As for what effect will it have no the Recessive Genetic stripe market...........Id have to say it would have no effect because it is a completely different looking type of stripe.......and it looks nothing like the Recessive Gen Stripes........Which may i point out are my FAVORITE ball morphs.......I have some 100% hets from VPI and I will tell you what........as exciting it is to hatch this little GEM out.........i cant wait for my own Gen Stripes to pop out.......hopefully it will be in 2005.

"yellowbelly is het leucey.....yellow belly is het striped...yet sides are not the same on this stripe.....yet what is this?.... "

I may be wrong but no one has produced a leucey from yellow bellies...People have produced white snakes with yellow stripes but not exactly leucies...So maybe yellow bellies influence snakes to have stripes???...I don't know....?

bachman Sep 19, 2004 11:24 PM

the ivory is a form of leucism (it's basically white). The stripe part is weird how it came out looking "almost" identical to a Bob Clark "genetic stripe", so I would agree with the yellowbelly having an influence on striped offspring since the "ivories" usually have a yellow stripe & I think the "ebony" had a stripe also??

Just a thought. Yellowbellies just keep getting better, and I thought it was all hype a couple of months ago (I was very wrong).

Awsome snake Jared!

Some are a lot more noticable than others, but there is no misataking a yellowbelly for a normal.......

Jared

jyohe Sep 20, 2004 05:46 PM

striped yellowbelly pretty much is a good name for it then....

.....but.......?.....you bred a stripe to a yellowbelly.....

What are these yellowbellies, like a super het-the-coolest-traits-you-can-think-of snake or something? That is a stunning animal. Bizzare. I assume the YB dad was not "het" foir stripe that you knew of? Wow. Congrats!

Good job Jared! I was super happy with the two male YB's that my female produced for me this year, but I would've pass out if I hatched out something as extreme as that animal. All I can say is SHOW ME THE MOTHER!
