Cage Questions- Help needed please

jophos Sep 19, 2004 07:44 PM

I currently own an enclosure that was used to house an iguana. The iguana has since passed, , but the enclosure remains. I am looking at aquiring a beardie or two and was wondering if the cage i have will suffice ...
It measures 3 x 3 x 6 , being that it was used for an aboreal lizard the height is what scares me when using for beardies. Everywhere i have looked has the beardies housed in a much lower cage, from what i have read it seems to be that they do enjoy climbing but by no means are considered aboreal.
Anyways, my basic question, Is a 6 foot tall cage too much height to house a beardie? Thanks in advance for any help!

Unfortunatly, your cage would be considered too high for a bearded dragon. They need to be able to get close to the basking lamp and still be close to the tground in order to get to it's food. So you need a smaller height cage. two maybe three feet high. I hope I helped. Oh and im sorry about your iggy, both of my iggy's died a while back.

modify the cage and turn it to its side? 3 wide 3 high and 6 long would be a great cage that could house like three females if they liked each other. You could really make a killer custom enclosure out of it! If you wanted to put the time into it.
