Its getting hot in here........

antonm Jun 26, 2003 05:00 PM

I live in California and its been getting pretty hot lately. The temperature in my tokay's tank reaches well over 95 degrees. Despite this, he doesnt seem to mind but actually sits closer to the top of the cage rather than hiding towards the bottom. Anyone have any advice on how to cool the cage down? I've been trying ice cubes on the wire mesh but it only lasts so long.....any help would be appreciated.

where I live it gets over 110 regulary. Tokays can tolerate temps in the high 90's and mine love to bask in a spot in the upper 90's every night. I have a big enough Viv (LxH) that the the lower area and cold side stays between 78-82 so they move up under the heat to their desired temp. they like. If you feel yours is to warm you could set your heat source on a timer to be on at night only if its stays around 80 during the day. I leave mine on 24x7 and they hang out on the cool end during the day and always spend time basking at night. Usually watching me on the PC here.
