Feeling ambitious, in the next year or two.

My wife and I are totally intrigued with Peach Throat monitors. We are kicking around the idea of trying to breed these beautiful creatures. The problem is, we have NO experience breeding anything, well almost. Are we about to get in way over our heads?

I am thinking we would start with a single peachie and see how it goes. If we dial in the one, we can pick up a second later. All of this is pie-in-the-sky dreaming at this point, but these are such beautiful creatures, I would devote the time and money to give it a go as long as I knew what to expect up front. (As much as possible.)

Ok, let it fly......

Its makes those who sell cheap imports mad. Ask Robert Bushner about his experience with them as hes been raising and working with them for a few years. Im sure if you use good husbandry, usable resources and a pair, not just 2 monitors of the opposite sex, after all individuals have to decide if they are going to get along, not us forcing them to, thats how one ends up dead if they dont like each other. I was told by FR once that monitors are like parakeets, if you want to increase the chances of them breeding you need 2 monitors that know how to speak to each other, if kept alone they dont learn how to speak to each other, then they need to work out many many more problems at an older agewhen its more dangerous to each other. He also stated many times that getting them to breed is much eaier when you have CBB animals as they dont miss the wild and you dont need to fix all of their problems before they will breed. Breeding them is actually a bad way to put it, they breed when they are ready, and have the resources to make the choices. Good luck.
