Survey: What do you feed your Uroplatus and how often??

viper69 Sep 19, 2004 11:27 PM

I would like to see what people are feeding their Uroplatus, and how often they are feeding their leaf tail that particular prey item. I am just trying to get a feel for what other people are doing out there besides just using crickets. Btw..I have never used waxworms..except for chams..(waxworms have a high fat content for those that don't know)

For example,

1. Crickets -Mon/Tues
2. Waxworms - Fri/Sat

etc etc.

i feed my gex dusted crickets, usually feed them at least 2x a week, try to feed more frequently around breeding season. i have been trying superworms lately for my larger leaf tails, but they seem to like the action of the crickets more. i also got some madagascar hissing cockroaches, but im waiting on those to breed to provide as prey.

Hi,

I feed my U. henkeli pair (only Uroplatus for right now) an exclusively cricket diet. Crickets are gutloaded with a myriad of fresh foods (no pre-made "cricket chow" here), and dusted with a variety of supplements to ensure adequate calcium intake. I aim to feed them every night of the week, but it ends up being about 4-5 nights a week, as many as they will eat.
