My pic in the post below shows my tank with tiles. I use a heat lamp but a uth hooked up to a thermostat works good too. The tiles hold heat from the lamp pretty well though.

This one is a 33 gallon housing my two females. For heat there is an UTH and a heat lamp for night viewing. Temps usually stay between 90 to 95 on the hot side. The floor is tile with play sand in the cracks.

This one is a low 15 gallon tank housing my male. Heating and floor is pretty much the same as the other tank.

I haven't taken a picture of the tank in a while so the only one I can find is with it empty. Its a 40g breeder tank that houses 2 females. It's heated using a t-rex heat mat. The ceramic tile holds the heat pretty well.
this is my display tank it has 18X18 tiles on the floor I had to cut them down but they work great and look great too. They have the look of brown slate or rock and have a texture. As for heating I have an UTH on the one is of the tank and a moon light spot on the same side the other side has a lower wattage moon light bulb(not a spot). The tank also has a flouresant bulb for day light. The temps in the tank range on the surface from 93 to 80 and air temp is 86 to 83. temps in the tank are taken with a tempgun and a digital thermometer.
Hope all this helps
