a pinky will grow pretty quickly. I'm not sure exactly how long but only a few months. As for the rats, I've seen rats the size of mice, rats that are slightly larger, and then I have seen rats that are a thousand grams (which my 2 4 foot female balls and my 5 foot red-tail boa eat). Its not really age with rats, i think, its mass. and don't be afraid to ask questions. asking is good, while trying to figure something out yourself could endanger your snakes. I'd rather be annoyed by someone with a lot of questions than see a snake become ill or worse because their owner was afraid to ask. feel free to email me if you want. If i can't answer you i'll get an answer for you from one of my breeder/dealer friends. good luck. sera

I think if you go to Rodentpro.com and click on the rat feeders, they have all the rat sizes and ages listed next to the price.

Some male rats will grow huge. I think that's mostly where you get your jumbos from. I've had 2 rats get to 24 ounces. I figure a small is around 7 oz., a medium near 10 oz., large closer to 13-15 oz., then they start categorizing them all crazy like. Pinkies will get to small status in about 45-60 days, right around the time they're weened. I have found it much less hassle, less mess and cheaper to purchase frozen feeders from a local distributer and keep them in a deep freezer.
