Were to purchase insulated reptile shipping boxes?

Damon Sep 20, 2004 08:20 AM

Was wondering where I could purchase insulated reptile shipping boxes.

Last place I was able to find them was from bush herp supply.

Check out Superior Enterprise. They advertise in "Reptiles" mag. I also believe their website is www.superiorenterprise.com. They have a large selection of shipping supplies and lots of other stuff.

Good luck,

Nothing like receiving your animal in a new box.

I get mine free...and they are the same top quality 17 X 17 X 10 heavy cardboard with styrofoam inner "cooler" you can get from the reptile packaging guys (the same box I recieved a pair of carpets from VPI, and some balls from RDR). The only difference is the markings, which I cover up anyway. My local pet store gets 10 to 12 of these boxes each week, as their fish are shipped in them. They normally throw out the cardboard and save the cooler. Every few months I have them save me a few sets. They originally said they were going to charge me $3 bucks a set, but they always give them to me free. Free boxes and no shipping....its worth a look. They occaisionally get in larger sizes, but I like the regular ones - you can easily fit several hatchlings or yearlings in one box. When I need more room, I just tape two together. Give it a shot!

I agree, A new box is a nice feature. All of the boxes I get are like new / indistinguishable from a brand new box. Any box that has banged up corners, water marks, damage of any kind gets tossed. The boxes I get look brand new, and I add my own "wrapper". Since some shippers charge based on box dimensions, I may be paying more for shipping however. There is no doubt that I could get by shipping in a smaller box, but the larger box allows for more cushion and a more stable temperature environment. I may play around with my shipping account and see if one of their smaller boxes would save me enough to make it worth it to me.
