feeding spotteds...HELP!!!

davethomas Jun 26, 2003 05:32 PM

any advice on what to feed some finicky spotteds? can't find anything that satisfies my 2.3.2 colony. one eats reptomin like candy -- but the others won't touch it. most will devour earth worms. a couple (new addition sub-adults) don't seem to want to eat anything.

spotteds can definately be pretty picky. They also will hunger strike longer than other species I've kept. I had one make it over the 2 week limit for other species to three weeks.

Mine seem to prefer almost exclusively meats or meat based foods. Mine will nibble reptomin, but prefer insects, pinky mice, fish, snails, crustaceans... I'll toss in some cooked poultry now and again and they will eat that as well.

Try some goldfish, minnows, crickets, crayfish, safe bugs.
