Ok, I've seen a few pics that some of you have posted that have a like rock wall in the tank with the bearded.

How did you people make those rock wall things for the bearded's cage? I was thinking about making one for mine and one for my brothers as well.

I would just like to know how long it takes, what all is needed and to know if it is safe for them or not.

Its safe and relatively easy.

All you need is some low expansion foam or some polystyrene insulation (both have a flash point around 350 celcius so don't worry about heat lamps)and some polyereuthane (liquid better but spray works to). Either cut the polystyrene or spray the foam in the shape you want. Coat it a few times with the polyeurethane and let it dry thouroughly between coats. Then paint it and seal it again with the polyeurethane atleast one I would recommend 2 coats, 3 if possible. The low expansion foam is easy to use but costs a bit more than the insulation sheets in the long run.

Hope this helps.

It does, I'm gonna try that.

Another question I have is this: I have hades on reptile carpet because he started eating sand one day. I'm thinking about putting him on tiles like you would install in a kitchen or bathroom as a floor.

What is everyone's opinion on this? Is the tile safe for them? I'm currently using tile as a substrate on my leopard gecko and she has a 100 watt UVB bulb so it's safe enough for her. I'm just wondering if it is safe enough for him also.

Tiles are fine. As long as theres isn't any space between them for toes to get pinched.

I did mine slightly different than others. Instead of polystyrene I made the ledges out of plywood, then used screen wire covered with plaster of paris to give them their shape. Also, after appying the tile grout, I sealed mine with a 50/50 mixture of white elmers gluue & water.

Thanks for all of your help guys. I think I'm gonna get a much bigger cage for Hades. He's in a 40 breeder now and I just finished putting the tiles in.

See my brother's got a female dragon, so I'm hoping mine turns out to be a male then maybe we could house them together. I'm thinking maybe a 125 gallon might be enough room for them both, so if they do get along but aren't the best of friends they'll both have plenty of room.

even in a large set up you still have a high risk that the dominant dragon will severely injure the smaller one.

With only a VERY FEW exceptions, males and females should NOT be housed together. The males will constantly try to breed and over stress the female. Beardies are NOT social dragons--they are solitary...Most breeders only put the male and female together for short periods--until the "deed" is done and then they seperate them.

Did you know that with just ONE breeding a female can produce multiple clutches of eggs--just a few weeks apart! Are you and your brother ready to invest HUNDREDS of dollars in incubators and housing for all of those babies. DO NOT think you will make money--you will be lucky if you break even and find homes for all of them...the market is saturated. Just one clutch of babies can eat 1000s of crickets in one week--and you will have them for at least 6 weeks...the babies will need to be housed in small groups to prevent tail nips...each set up will have to have its own lighting/heating...you will most likely STILL have young from the first clutch that you have yet to find homes for when the second clutch comes along.

Females should be full grown--at least 18 months is a common standard--BEFORE she is introduced to a male for breeding. They are capable of breeding much younger but at a serious risk to her health. Males can also have complications from early breeding.

PLEASE research this and get your parents approval BEFORE you do something stupid and end up yelling for help on the forums.

I don't have my heart set on breedig the dragons. I'm thinking more along the lines of a 125 gallon terrarium, plexi glass in the middle so its more like 2 62.5 gallon terrariums.

So they wouldn't be bredding dragons, they'd just be in the same terrarium, only there'd be a pane of plexi glass in between them both.

Looks good!

How is cleanup on those fake rocks? I was concidering doing something like that but was afraid it would be difficult to clean.

How long did you wait after you put on the tile grout to seal it with the elmers glue, and how long after you sealed it was it dry and ready for your dragon. I have a dragon coming on Wednesday and I am trying to find the easiest and quickest way to get his home ready for him. I have like 5 days to complete the rock wall project. I really need help.

Thanks
