Updated pic of Slim

Kevin Saunders Sep 20, 2004 11:09 AM

I haven't taken any pics of him in a while, so I got a new one of him this weekend. I got him as a hatchling last Thanksgiving and he's already around 30 inches or more. He's still a little shy and retreats to his tree or tunnels in the aspen when I go to get him out, but he's much less squirmy and has still never tried to bite. I hope my bairds grow as fast as he has.

Was he your first snake? My first was lola - also a licorice stick black rat. She is extremly docile - i guess thats part of their nature. She is about 28 inches right now, hatched march of 03. she also likes to stay in her cave a lot every now and then poking her head out and on a vary rare occasion she'll be out climibng on her branches.

No, I'd had quite a few snakes before I got him. He was the first non corn ratsnake I bought though. I'd only caught wild black rats before him.

In fact I saved the pic because I liked it so much. I hope mine turns out similar to yours. How old is he? It was a Miskimmon licorice that really made me want one for the first time.

he is probably a '00 mayeb even a '99......i picked him up from bob mcivor (years were never stated), in all i got 2 (you can kind of see the female in the pic also)adult lic. and 2 beautiful chocolate rusty.....

i love him....he is the prize of my collection.....and even lets my kids hold him and jus settles on their lap and is calm.......my 2 year old has even held him.....course i guard that one closely.......in case he (my son) squeezes too hard or moves to quick.

both of them are proven.....but not to each other (sounds like an old country song)

next year hopefully

He acquired the original animal & spent many years outbreeding the Hets. We can all thank him......
