Please help sick Veiled!!!!

Chi-reptile Sep 20, 2004 01:54 PM

Please help my freind this is a picture of his sick veiled. He brought it to me and I'm 99% sure it is due to calcium deficiency. Luckly i have never had this problem but i told he the normal dust crickets, lots of water, and ultraviolent, and powdered milk lights but i was wondering what tricks people have used to quickly build up the calcium.

Your pic didn't come through. Unless we have specific info on what he gutloads, dusts, with and and how often we can't diagnose this. What type of light he is using is important too, as well as how old the bulb is. Just feeding the cham lots of calcium dust may not be enough (and we don't know for sure this is the problem). Vets can prescribe neocalglucon but the dose needs to be measured carefully for the specific cham. You CAN overdose it! Also getting the cham outdoors in "real" sunlight will help, as calcium with out the proper light is useless.

Im not sure what you mean by powder milk lights. But depending on how long the chameleon has had the problem. your best bet is to take it to a vet. The vet will tell you what to do. He will have to deside on the amount of calcium to give it. They give them calcium shots, if it is not to late. they get metabolic bone disease. And it is Irreversible. Hope'fully he will be able to save it for you. Good luck.....Scott...P.S. I had this in a chameleon some one brought back and I was able to save him. It took a little work but he's ok now.
