I am concidering buying a new tank and acrylic is soooo much cheaper than glass... a lot lighter too. I have heard that acrylic is not so good as a turtle tank. Why??

from the earlier posts on glass vs. acrylic... there were 2 different stories. one was that the acrylic can't hold the water pressure, though i'm not too sure about this one.
but the other story was that the turtles LONG nails scratch the acrylic and it doesn't look so great after while.
but really in the end, i think the choice is up to you!

Where are you finding acrylic tanks cheaper than glass? or are you talking about really small tanks. Once you pass the 100 gallon mark, acrylic is usually 5 times more expensive than glass around here anyway. I would love to have a large acrylic tank but dont want to dish out $1000 for it.
