Im very interested in obtaining one of these species!!!

pernads Sep 20, 2004 05:41 PM

Hey guys, well Ive been doing a ton of looking for any of these chameleons, but Im not coming up with much. I have dealt with pardalis, veiled and jacksons, now its time to move on.

I know a few, if not all are endangered, and pretty much impossible to get. Im interested in getting somehting that is more on the rare side, but not something like parsonii.

These are in order of how bad i want to get each one:

01. Furcifer Balteatus
02. Furcifer Wilsii
03. Calumma Brevicornis
04. Calumma Globifer
05. Furcifer Petteri
06. Calumma Glawi
07. Calumma Parsonii Cristifer
08. Calumma Oshaughnessyi Oshaughnessyi
09. Furcifer Rhinoceratus
10. Furcifer Labordi
11. Furcifer Antinina(sp?)

If any one has any information on obtaining these guys, I would be most appreciative. I would love to find an unrelated pair and try a breeding program, but I would be more than satisfied with a male or female of any of those species.

Here is my email, please send any info to this address. If you have info and want me to contact you, please leave an email, or a way to contact you

Thanks for everything,
Greg Prenatt

Greg,

None of those species are available in the trade legally in the US. Each of those were banned from export from Madagascar in 1995 and in most cases, have almost completely died out of legal captive collections. There was recently an individual offering what he claimed were CB globifer but I've provided the US FWS with information showing they were illegal animals being brought in from Japan. A few of those species are still around in Europe in very small numbers but the chances of bringing them into the US are almost nonexistant. Sorry for the grim news.

Indonesia Herpofauna is working with Globifers Chameleons and has successfully bred them. You can check with them and see if they have any available.

To clarify, it is illegal for them to export them to the US because their was issue with them being able to show legal origins of their founder stock to the satisfaction of meeting CITES regulations.
