Pinky Question

Intempesta_Nox Sep 20, 2004 08:08 PM

I have just a quick question: Whats the best way to humanely kill feeder pinkies to store them? I was thinking just placing them in the freezer, but I would like to know how others do it. I've also heard that using CO2 doesnt work that well on them because they have to be able to survive in cramped spaces in the nest. Thanks for the help.

freeze them singly, as they will huddle together for warmth otherwise. Then you wind up with a ball of frozen pinkies and that is a mess breaking apart. Once frozen you can bag them all in one bag or in little sandwich bags singly or in pairs. I use ziplock bags and just suck out all the air before sealing. A kind of poor man's (or in my case, woman's) vacuum packing.
