Nothing like swimming in your own filth....

OftenK Sep 20, 2004 08:12 PM

Manuelito has developed a rather strange habit. He loves to go swimming in his little water bowl, but for some reason he tends to defecate in the water and stomp around in it a bit first. I usually change the water as soon he does this, but I can't while he's still swimming in it! Anyone know why he's doing this? Maybe he just doesn't care?

It's just what they do. They prefer to poop in water, and many igs like to play in their water. He doesn't know the difference between clean water and dirty water. Try giving him two water bowls. Who can know, he might poop in one and play in the other.

When he gets big you'll be glad he prefers to poop in water, because the size of his mess will be a liquidy, stinky mess about the size of a dog's poo.

Give him a bath every morning in the bathtub. Use warm water, up to his chest. He will probably poop in the tub. If he does, bail out the poop as soon as you can, and drain the water. Thoroughly rinse your ig off, and the tub too. If you do this every day, you will "tub train" your ig. We give our ig a bath every morning. She usually goes in the tub.
