good desert lizards

ivegotabike Sep 20, 2004 08:24 PM

okay, so i want to get some type of dirunal desert lizard that can be kept on sand, and i need some ideas. it cant be a bearded dragon, and I've heard that scheiders just stay under the sand all the time, so i'd been thinking abuot some collareds... another prolem would be keeping humidity down, but i think using incandescant bulbs to make basking spots outta take care of that..... housing is not an issue, as i figure I'll get a 55 gallon tank anyway

Hey man,

If you like Collareds, might I suggest a Leopard Lizard?
Same family, but in my experience a whole lot more personable.
at any rate you can keep 3-4 individual Collareds in a 55 gallon tank. Check out the collared forum. Its fun over there.

Talk to you soon,
-Phil

They are pretty easy to care for, you want to give them lots of space to run so a 55 would be perfect, high besking temps, sand substrate and UVB lighting, they are very similiar in care to beardies and collards
