Just starting my Freedom Breeder setup. I have room for 3 mice colonies, 3 rat colonies. I currently am using 3 pinky mice, 4 fuzzy mice, 3 small mice and 18 large mice twice per week. I am going broke!!! I hope to exchange the lrg mice for rats. The ball pythons are large enough now. What ratio male.female should I use to get the best/fastest start? We are in So. Cal. Weather is still over 100 and about 70 at night. Snakes are HUNGRY!!!
Thank you in advance for all help.

When i started off i had 1.7-8 then i divided tanks down and used males from those litters. The tempreatures have to be ideal as if it's too hot they won't bred. I live in ncalif here is lassen county and it has suddenly gotten cold at night and frost in the mornings from 90* in the day.
If you read some posts below u can see my perferred method for breeding that i've found to use. I also like to seperate my males from females and introduce them at different intervals, when one pops the other gets bred, but i have 7 snakes so i can afford to do this. I live in a small town ad have a handful of ppl who buy from me and I am able to keep up with them and what i need as well.
Good luck

You can start mouse groups of from 1.2 to 1.10 and be fine. Go by the size of your setup. Rats you can have one male and move him around or one in each group. Rats usually do better for me in 1.2 up to 1.4 groups. Mice you set up and leave them alone.
