flukers cricket feed question

dyskrasia Jun 26, 2003 06:28 PM

I have a jar of the high calcium cricket feed which was purchased around 6 months ago. The label says the food is perishable but there is no expiration date. The contents of the jar seem to have clumped together though... Does anyone know if this is bad or if it's still okay to use to feed crickets? My baby beardie has to eat...

Thanks in advance!

more crickets than it has fed. We had a friend that lives near us that just lost 10,000 crickets after feeding them the calcium laced cricket stuff...

Personally, I do not trust any of their products simply due to the reputation that have shown with live animals more than once. This does not strike me as a company that would take any better care of the products they sell off a shelf than the animals they imported to the public.

Thanks, guys! I'm tossing the stuff. What do you recommend then?

the same stuff i feed my dragons, dark leafy greens, and some veggies like squash, i think someone here has a recepie for a gut load, but i just like using the greens =)

in a sponge. We use one that are more solid, not like the ones you water hermit crads with, I get them from Armstrongcrickets.

I also use a product gutload made by www.cricketfood.com the crickets love the stuff and get really big bellies on it and I know it passes to the dragon as our vet spotted some bee pollen in the dragons fecal samples!

I used to use fluker's I had no problems with it besides it cost $10 for 5 lbs. I switched over to egg layer mash chicken feed (non medicated). It is pretty much the same type stuff, but it cost $0.30/lb at feed stores. It smells better. I feed this and then use nature zone cricket water. I also throw in chopped up collard stems.
