What is the differnce between the Pacific Gopher and the Great Basin Gopher? How do you tell a difference? My boyfriend said both subspecis can have the fading in color so that doesn't tell anything, so what does? I looked at some pics, and compared them, but they look identical to my untrained eye... please give me some specifics if you can! Thanks!

Great Basins generally have less graying on their sides, and have less rounded blotching(more squarish, like a bullsnake). The main distinguishing feature though is that the blotches near the neck are usually fused together, creating light colored "circles" in between.
