Housing Baby Bulls

KenRoshak Sep 21, 2004 12:07 AM

I just acquired a pair of neonate Stillwater bulls and I'm wondering if they can be safely housed together for a year or two? Any real danger of "cannablism"?

They have seperate hides and I plan on feeding them in seperate tubs. I house my male and female corns this way for years without any issues but I wanted to get your opinion on pits. I also have neonate SD gophers I was planning on housing together until needing to seperate into sexes.

Hello Ken,
Hows that girl doing? I would be very careful. Pits have such a reflex when it comes to smelling food and then SMASHING it, that you would really want to make sure that the odor of the rodent was completely washed off of the body of the snakes before you put them back together. The father of the SD that you got from me is a prime example. As soon as he smells rodent, it is on! I am not saying that it can't and hasn't been done, you just have to pay extra attention when returning the two together. Hope this helps. Take care!

Yeah, I agree. Also, the added stress of living with a cagemate can sometimes make juveniles reluctant to feed. You can do it, but I don't recommend it.

OK, thanks. Looks like it's time to seperate the babies

Thanks Jeremy for the feedback. And your girl is just fine and eating well. I'll post pics when I get the chance to take some of her.
