Sick Leopard Rescue

antonm Sep 21, 2004 02:19 AM

Hi. I am not new. I did not mess this gecko up. I just need some advice please dont attack me. I have a gecko with a severe case of MBD (Metabolic Bone Disease). He has also gotten his tail bit off. He had shedding problems (fixed). Now I can feel his condition deteriorating. His eyes are closed more often which is a sign of weakness in my experience. He has stopped eating live because I believe he cannot see, and I am now feeding him by syringe. Not forced, but simply dropping it as he licks it off. I feed banana baby food mixed with T-REX superfood suplement as he pretty much refuses everything else. I need some high protien mix that will boost this guy back to health because if nothing else, he has will to survive. Has anyone come up with a good revival mix? I was thinking of mashing up crickets, mealworms and perhaps wax worms with some calcium powder flavouring such as banana or something so it goes down easy. Any experinces or suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

Have you taken him to the vet? They'll probably have something.

Marcia at Golden Gate Geckos has an excellent mixture. Try emailing her.

A vet can help with the MBD, but for a food mix this is what I used:

Beef baby food mixed with jumpstart, vit. and calcium powder and electrodize. The baby food adds protien, the jumpstart adds calories and enhances appetite, and electrodize adds electrolites and vit. D3. Its also an appetite stimulant.

This combo worked on my girl, but she wasn't to the point where yours is. Good luck with her I really hope she gets better soon!

I'm sorry for your loss. It's so hard when they fight so much to live. At least you try your hardest.
