Growth Issue

chamsrbest Sep 21, 2004 01:14 PM

I bought my male, veiled chameleon about 3 months ago. He was about 2 or 2.5 months old. I dont think that hes has gorown AT ALL!! He eats about 3-5 crix a day. (I try to to give him more but he hisses at the others when he sees them) He's not dehydrated because I see him drinking for 5-7 minutes at LEAST twice daily, anybody know why he hasn't grown?
Thanks-
Dillon

That's strange. And cute (aside from the worrying)> i've never seen a cham hiss at a cricket before. Have you tried any other food items with him. After he eats some crix try with a few small mealworms... just a thought. How does he look, other than being small? What are his cage temps? And, does he get enough calcium and UVB? His prey should be dusted every feeding, and his bulb not expired. Also, check his poop. Let us know what it looks like.
Other than that, there is a possibilty that he is just a "late bloomer". My panther stayed small until she was about 6 or 7 months old then SPRANG into growth. I don't think it is uncommon for them to stay small before they hit a growth spurt all of a sudden.

Hi,ive tried some waxworms and i think (not sure) that i tried mealies. he ate one waxworm and that was it. He looks great though, his skin is nice and silky, and hes alert. we just got him a uvb about a month ago and he gets dusted with calcium everyday and gets multivitamins once a week. His poop is fine and solid.
