New breeder w/ ?'s

How long do you reduce the photoperiod to 10 hours for? Is 2 months ok? Do you pull the males out at this time or leave them. Also when breeding a female for the first time should you wait to introduce her to the male until eggs are visible in her or once she reaches 50g or so. Any help is appreciated.

Any advice at all?

That statement doesn't really make sense to me. You would have to introduce her to a male in order for her to have eggs. I profer for my females to be at least a year old and at least 55 to 60 grams before breeding. Maybe you should visit some sites before starting to breed. Alot of sites have info on them about breeding. There are links at the top of the page I'm not sure which ones have info on breeding but I know some of them do.

Females do develop eggs whether they mate or not, they are just infertile. I have done a ton of research and these are the last few loose ends that I have. Thanks for your help.

I know they can develop eggs without being bred, but the eggs wouldn't be fertile. I would put her in before she showed any sign of having eggs.

Q-How long do you reduce the photoperiod to 10 hours for? Is 2 months ok?
A- Leopard geckos don't erally need a photoperiod to breed. I've had successful breeding seasons since I started and I've never bothered with the photoperiod thing. So I guess I'm not much help here

Q-Do you pull the males out at this time or leave them.
A- I usually don't keep them to gether when I don't want them to breed. often times the male will stress out the female with his attempts at breeding when she doesn't want to.

Q- Also when breeding a female for the first time should you wait to introduce her to the male until eggs are visible in her or once she reaches 50g or so.
A- Introduce the male before you see the eggs. One of my proven females showed eggs before I bred her this year so I put here with a male and they still turned out inferile. (It was the only infertile clutch she has ever laid)

Sorry if these weren't the answers you were looking for but they are based on my own experiences. I hope they can help.

Thanks for the help. Then they should not start breeding again until January, right? I'm just confused about the breeding/seasonal cycle. My geckos are doing great I just want to make sure that I don't screw up. I've got a few pics in the gallery if you search for my username: southsidegeckos, any comments would be appreciated.
