Jordon seems to be sleeping alot more...concerned...

hbluedevilh Sep 21, 2004 03:27 PM

Hey guys,

Well Jordon is sleeping alot more than usual. I dont know why. he has proper lighting and heating as well as daily misting and a round the clock dripper.

He is normal color, which is very nice (pic posted below of him normally), and he seems to be shedding. My problem is that he seems very slowww. I dont even know if he basked under the lamp today. I know everything is right, because three little girls live next to him, of course seperated by a barrier so they cant see each other, and they are active.

He ate the other day and drank the day before. Due to my schooling I dont have all day to watch him. Could there be anything wrong with him or am I just being paranoid about this and maybe hes just taking naps when I come home from school and what not?

Thanks,

Lu

Unlike most other animals, chams don't nap. It's good that you noticed his activity dropping, this is often one of the few warning signs if something is wrong.
How old is he? How much does he normally eat? How much is he eating now? and, finally, what is your dusting schedule?
Is your UVB bulb changed regularily? I know veileds are especially prone to calcium problems. When you mist him does he drink enough? try and pinch a bit of skin on his belly and see if it "sticks" to where you pinched it. Also, check his poop, and let us know what it looks like. He may just not be using his dripper, and needs more hydration. Finally, do a check on all of his temps, to see if anything has changed.
Go from there and hopefully it will get figured out!

Hey guys thanks for the prompt replies.

Everything is fine with him and his setup. He is one that I will free roam once I get the setup complete. I aquired him from ReptileMax (wonderful people) and to me he is the most perfect of health.

I went to my local walmart store and bought a new shower head. It had the feature of fine mist so I put it on and put it really low. I put Jordon and his cage in the shower and watched him react. He didnt drink much, as I hand fed him some water earlier, but I did, however notice the skin, since he is in shed, covering around his eyelids.

He has been scratching there for days now and to make things worse he Couldnt see! Not that he didnt want to but Im hoping because he couldnt because of the skin.

He opened his eyes several times now and gave me the "Move away from me gestures and colors" so I'm hoping the skin goes away soon and hopefully that was the problem and nothing more.

If not, to the vet he goes. Hes only been here about two weeks and he is just to precious to let him suffer. I'll keep you guys posted.

Since I admire my chams every day all day it was really easy to notice his behavior change in a day.

Thanks,

Lu
