My hypo Tang shed, ate it, threw up and died the next day.

BarbaraC May 14, 2003 10:28 PM

What could have caused this? She was a year old and doing very well. She was 60 grams and at like a pig. Has anyone ever had this happen to them? She was not sick at all. She just threw up her shed that was the first time I ever saw that and the next day she was dead. IM so upset I cant believe this.

Was there any toxic substances in her enviroment that might have been exposed to her skin??
I haven't heard any stories like this before, but that would be my best guess.

That stinks Barbra. I have no idea what could have caused that unless she perhaps aspirated some of the shed. That sucks and I am sorry for your loss.

First of all sorry about your loss it must be terrible for you. Sounds that you really loved and cared for her. I have no idea other than maybe something toxic was on the skin or she choked on some or yanked something loose regurgeitating it. Definately one for thought.

I would consider the possibility that she had something else wrong with her and that the death was not related to the shed. Have you considered getting an autopsy done?

Barbara, i am really sorry about your tang. Yesterday i found out that one of my geckos had threw up his shed. I have talking to people that are really into geckos, and they have told me that i had happened to them. Sometimes when your gecko is not eating that much, they still take away their skin by eating it, but since he/she is not hungry, he/she will throw ir up.
David.
