ReptiSun 5.0 fluorescent tube bulbs emit measureable amounts of UVA and UVB in the proper part of the spectrum for about 6 months according to independent lab testing. They are the classic good safe bulb. I don't know about the RepiGlo bulbs. All bulb brands vary widely in what they produce, and most OTHER fluorescent tube lights are not as good as the ReptSuns. Don't believe what you read on the box.

I've used reptiglos and only reptiglos for my entire single year of chameleon keeping...not much but enough to know what theyre like.

I've raised one veiled from a baby (remind yourself that veileds are sun-loving, and need more UVB than a mountain species or other thickly forested species) and had two females lay 3 clutches of eggs combined in my 6 months of having them, and very painlessly. They are all very active and healthy, and the plants dont want to stop growing!

Also, one thing I have observed from using Reptiglo bulbs (probably the same with other bulbs) is that the radiation travels further than the supposed 6 inches-12 inches. The leaves on the ficus plants in the enclosures turn towards the light source, being more than 20" away from the bulb. I don't know if thats just the UVA being picked up or UVB and UVA, but one of them sure is going further than a foot.

get the best light for your Reptarium. get ZooMed's PowerSun UVA/UVB - Heat source bulb. There are 100 watt and 160 watt bulbs (that I like). The life on them is about 1 year! TRUST ME, you will love them. No more canopies.
