Help!!! rescued baby anole in washington state!!!

acebrat2001 Sep 21, 2004 06:17 PM

I work at a vet. hospital and a client brought in a plant with a baby lizard on it, to me. I've done all the research I can through pet stores up here. Not very many can tell me much more than "yup that's a baby brown anole" Right now it is living in my 10 gal Terrarium, organic soil base 2" deep moss covered with live plants, roughly 68-70 degrees with a 12 hour light cycle(exo terra sun glow 25 watt brand)also a med. sized water fall(gravel filled reservoir)so the little guy won't drown. I feed him some flight less (HA!)fruit flies last night and he did eat them. Any other help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. From the pictures I have found he looks like a male. Also he's only about 1 & 1/2 inches snout to tail end. Please help me keep this little guy alive!

Aren't they cute when they're little! I have 2 babies that are 2 months old now. Look at the kingsnake caresheet for anoles. It is GREAT. He will need basking spot of about 90 (I just us a regular incandecent light bulb, 60 wt. He also needs a UVB light) and a cooler end of about 78-80. At first I housed mine in a 10 gallon tank but now they are in a 25 gallon tall tank with LOTS of branches. They are arboreal so love to climb.
If you can find them he will eat pinhead crickets also. I feed both the fruit flies (yea they fly!) and pinheads (need to 'gutload' those little guys, too) to my anoles. The lights are on timers so they get a natural day/night cycle. Also need to mist the tank couple times a day. One of mine will drink from a leaf dish but not the other one. They only recognize water droplets on the leaves of plants and branches like in the wild. Live plants will help with humidity. Should be in the 50% range. Mine will go up when I mist their tank.
My babies were iffy when I got them. They were so small I didn't know if they would survive. Now they are doing pretty good. One is more dominate then the other. I think mine are females. Hope this helps.
