Ok, so maybe I overdid it on the cage...adding Giant day geckos.....

A friend gave me some free tanks, one of them a 90 gallon reptarium. ( 36" long, 19" deep, 24" high. )

So I put my adopted Giant day gecko in it. I realize I could have had a beardie, uro, or something...but I decided to tone it down a bit with the pet collection and just do better with the ones I have.

Anyways, my 9" male is in there now. Scared as all hell, but he's in there.

How many females do you think I could add? Or should I just add one?

Make sure there are plenty of hiding spots cause even females can be aggressive whne it comes to this. Also, when you make your decision on how many you had it is best to add them all at the same time for no single gecko (cept the male) has a territory already sorted out.

Just add one.
Since grandis females tend to dominate each other, mixing several females is sth restricted to very experienced people.
90 g is fine for a pair, but a reptarium is not a good choice since Phelsuma prefer to climb on smooth surfaces and do not appreciate the screened walls.

Oh, my bad...it's a "critter cage". So it IS glass....

...I just called it a reptarium because it won't hold water. My bad.

Don't worry, he'll relax after a bit! When V first went from the 5 gallon to the 40 gallon, I think he nearly sank into a coma from fright. I also made the error of having a new "bubbler bowl" in the new tank (should have let him adjust to the tank first, and then added the scary new object!), and poor V alternated between hiding from it and stalking it for days. Finally, a fresh batch of crickets calmed him down, and he now loves the bigger setup and is growing like mad.
