White head spot?

billcherep Sep 22, 2004 12:33 AM

I posted this before but it was right before the amazing post of that new morph a couple of days ago. Wow by the way! Anyway, one of my girls shed last week and all of the sudden has this white spot on her head. Its not blushing but just seems to be changing color of her scales. Its a bright white blotch. Very odd. Should I be concerned? Pic doesn't show accuracy of it but best I could do.

I don't see this spot you are referring to. Sometimes a scale comes in that is thinner than the others or one does not come in at all for one shed.

Here is another shot.

....sometimes during a shed cycle there are scales (they can be anywhere on the snake) in which the skin cells undergo abnormal replication. These abnormalities may or may not be reversible, and if it involves the pigment layers, sometimes you will see color changes in these scales. Although in the broadest sence they can be considered abnormal, they are really of no consequence. I wouldn't worry about it.

I see issues in this area quite often. Most of the time, it looks like the snake is splitting out of his skin. I normally see it in growing animals.

I would not worry.
