Question with strange honduran behavior

Jamie Sep 22, 2004 01:55 AM

I have a 4 month old hondo that is what looks to be in prolonged shed. She has looked like she is stuck in her shed, not like a bad shed but she is definatly in need of a shed. Now the reason I am worried in that she doesn't have the energy and mobility that she usually has. She ate for me tonight but when I pick her up she is just a little weak and limp...she still smells and holds on but is just lacking that spunk most young hondos have. I have soaked her a couple times but nothing. Should I be worried or is there anything I can do.

Thanks
Jamie

Jamie,

You mentioned her to have eaten which is a good sign, injured/sick snakes almost never eat. Have you had her long enough to elaborate on her previous sheds. Best thing to do depending on your substrate is to keep half of her enclosure very humid and she will shed no problem. She is in no emmediate danger...

Good luck

Thanks Marc, she seemed to be good with her sheds. Maybe I am just being paranoid but her brother was in and out of shed really quick and she has been like this for just under a week. I have her on industrial paper towel that is moist (not wet) so I will just have to wait and see. Any other advice on things I can do?

Jamie
