I use Cypruss Mulch, Sphagnum Peat Moss, or paper towels. Or . . . sometimes . . . combinations! Gasp!

I like paper towels. My kids like the ones with Sponge Bob on them Whether the snake likes Sponge Bob or not, I have no idea. We had a wild caught Garter snake for a few years and used astro-turf (plastic carpet/grass). That seemed to work fine, too, but I had to have 2 pieces to trade out, one for cage and one to be washed/dried.

Newspapper is by far the easiest substrait to take care of, but if it is a display cage, I would use cypress, or wood chips, etc. Cypress is the best for keeping the himidity up.

i just use regular old printer paper...it's white color lets me know if there is any dirt that shouldn't be there..but that is my preference
