Serious Roach Question Please respond

jovcham Sep 22, 2004 03:38 PM

Ok...I have a large rubbermaid full of orange head roaches...its like a freakin army of deamon bugs in there.

My question- If the common Fl Roach gets inside this bin will they inner breed?!?!?!

My roach bin is on my back porch, I got a few small roaches for my small chameleon in the usual 4-5 inch deep tuperware container. As I was carrying it to the cage the baby roaches just climbed right up and over the side of the container!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! correct me if I'm wrong...but orange heads are not supose to be able to climb like that!

Don't know about the interbreeding. You'll probably have to ask a roach expert online. As for climbing, the nymphs of many species can climb even if the adults don't. The trick to keeping them in a tub is to smear Vaseline or petroleum jelly in a rim around the inside top of the tub. They hate to even set a foot in it.

from what i've been told and from what i've seen they don't inter-breed...i have dwarf lobsters and regualar lobsters in the same tank and they stick with their own

the vaseline idea works great but here's something wierd that i've seen...when disturbed they race up the glass but as soon as they touch the vaseline they turn around, however, if you force them they can go thru it they just don't want to...i guess they don't like touching it

Any roach that decides it "doesn't want to" go out of its tank is good enough for me!
