Do I have a JCP x Diamond?

Weekendherper Sep 22, 2004 06:20 PM

I've been looking at a lot of pictures of pure JCP's and X's, and it seems that what was sold to me as a JCP, may indeed be a cross with a diamond. Now I have no problem if it is, I'm just looking for a "correct" description. I've noticed most JCP's are solid black/brown with yellow or white. Mine looks different than some other 04's I've seen in that the yellow is bordered by a deep black, but then changes abruptly to yellow/brown black flecks.

I'd welcome any and all opinions.

Thanks!

While I do think it does look like one, I'm not going to tell you that it is, simply because I could be wrong.

The only thing I can tell you with certainty is that you will see a lot of people to tell you that it is a Diamond cross.

Those people obviously haven't ever seen a Jungle with yellow tipping on the black scales. That tipping is commonly associated with Diamond x Jungle crosses, but I've also seen it on a handful of supposedly pure Jungle Carpets over the last few years...many of them reputed to be from Casey Lazik's bloodline.

Just keep that in mind when listening to the replies you get.

Thanks for the input. I just found a pic of one of 98expo's '03 Lazik line JCPs that looks very similiar to mine.

My reason for stating that is there is no rosette pattern typical of almost every diamond cross I've seen. Also, what size is that snake? Diamond crosses are typically drab in color until they are a year or so old.

That looks more to me like a pretty sweet jungle to IJ cross, or coastal. Possibly just a really wierd patterened juvi pure jcp, but i've never seen one with quite that much orange that was a pure jungle.

She's an early '04 and about 22". She had this coloration when I got her a month or so ago.

way too much orange to be pure coastal, way too much black to be pure jungle.

Shame we don't see you elsewhere these days.

While that could be a pure jungle, I'd have to say it looks more like a cross to me. I would label it a probable cross. With carpets, there is no definitive answer unless you know what the parents were.

I second what Gary said...
