A shipping question.

I purchased a pair of pythons from a guy online and just found out that he shipped them via USPS overnight!! I cant believe it and Im worried that the snakes will have a ruff trip (hot here in TX.), I am also worried what the local post master will do if he finds out whats in the box. I did not know that he would be using USPS before hand or I would have made the shipping arrangments myself! I also just found out that its illegal to ship snakes via the USPS!! (YIKES!) Has anyone had an experience like this and if so how did it turn out?

Yep. I had a guy do that to me too, after I specifically TOLD him not to use the post office and he agreed to use Fed-Ex. Then when he sent me the tracking number it was a USPS tracking number. I went ballistic. That is just STUPID. Why risk spending time in prison to save couple of bucks? I saved my email string where I asked him to use Fed-Ex (and he agreed) in case there was ever a problem. He can up with his butt in trouble with the Feds if he wants to, but he ain't taking me with him.

People that are idiot enough to ship snakes via the Post Office are people that I won't be doing business with again. I've already known a couple of people that got caught doing that and it wasn't pretty.

UPDATE: The snakes arrived today safe and sound but for future reference I think I will stick to buying my animals locally.

Tell you what...I can't believe the rate hikes at UPS & Fed Ex!!! Almost doubled!!! How are people charging $35 for packages that cost $60 & up???
