Frog Magazine?

FroggyToads Sep 22, 2004 08:28 PM

Are there any frog or toad publications out there? Or maybe a reptile magazine that covers frogs? If so please let me know. If you can give me a link where I can subscribe

Thanks

The biggest reptile magazine is interestingly enough known as "Reptiles". It covers snakes, turtles, lizards and to my knowledge, amphibians. Pick up a copy at the local Sav-On/Wal-Mart/grocery store and see if you like it. Hope that helps.

Unfortunately there is not a magazine or publication dedicated only to frogs or other amphibians, probably due to lack of demand. In my opinion, the best reptile and amphibian magazines are now out of print because Reptiles bought them out. If you hunt around online or dig in Reptiles magazine piles at shows you can usually turn up an old copy of The Vivarium or Reptile and Amphibian magazine, both of which regularily had good articles on amphibians. Good luck,

Devin, are you including, THE "Reptile and Amphibian Hobbyist" magazine? There was this one I used to buy regularly at PETCO called this, and one article had a leucomelas featured, as well as P. dacnicolor(on the front cover), but I haven't seen this magazine in a few years. I know petco's inventory has changed. I really want to subscribe to it, but if it doesn't even exist anymore, I might as well forget.

It does not exist anymore.

TFH published Reptile Hobbyist and then purchased Reptile and Amphibian Magazine creating Reptile and Amphibian Hobbyist which then was discontinued.

Reptiles bought Vivarium and then revaluated thier target market via a survey and discovered that their major subscriber were ten year old boys which resulted in the change in the magazine format.

If you want magazines other than Reptiles you will need to look at some of the European magazines.
