UN resolution 1441 (more...)

H+E Stoeckl Sep 22, 2004 08:34 PM

It has been claimed in former threads in this forum that the UN resolution announced dire consequences and that Germany, France and Russia had also supported the resolution.

Apparently the guys who posted this seem to forget that the UN chief inspector Hans Blix was in the middle of a successful work when George Dabbljuhh sounded the charge.

At that time NO WMD had been found (because as we know now they don't exist) and the Iraq was fully cooperative (due to the U.S. army that surrounded its border).

Hans Blix said he needed more time and he commended the Iraq for his cooperation.

Fear crept into the guts of George Dabbljuhh. He saw his war that he craved anxiously for going down the hill.

Getting panicky he claimed the inspections to be finished.

So even when all nations supported resulution 1441 and if dire consequences meant war, it was not correct to attack at that time.

Many of you will say now that Saddam has had enough time, but as a matter of fact the inspections were abandoned just at their most effective time.

I am convinced that George Dabbljuhh feared the result.

Hermann, etc al...

I went to a symposium by acclaimed journalist James Goldsborough just the other day. He is former Edward R. Mellow fellow at the Council on Foreign relations and a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment. His column is synidicated nationally.

He brought up quite a few important points. among them were the following:

*Bush completely ignored and overode the U.N. Security councils findings and decided to to go to war ALONE, without the support of allies. Completely ignoring the warnings of Hans Blik and Koffe Annan.

*Bushes strategy(Or lack of same) and planning(*sic*) have INCREASED terrorism worldwide, not only in the U.S. but in Europe, the backyard of Iraq.

*Worldwide the opinion of citzens of other countries for this one is much less than favorable, and that putting it mildly. The opinion of Bush worldwide is that of a war monger. And an idiot. It is well earned, that much I assure you.

*At a time when the U.S. had a surplus and was financially ok, Bush thrust this country into a war it could ill afford, and in doing so, he spread our troops thin, so as not to make them able to even FOCUS on Bin Laden, the Taliban. Why focus on that when we are mired down in a unwinnable war in a country whose citzens dont want us there?

Bush is the most notorious predisent that this nation has ever had.............
He came in as a CENTRIST, a compassionate conservative, ostensibly to unite the left and the right, to the center, and in four short years he has POLARIZED citzens, both democratic and Republican from each other..

Amazeing....

Vote Kerry/ Edwards, they suck less.
Cause if you vote for Bush, you KNOW the troops arent going anywhere...period.

Most sincerely,

Fred Albury

P.S.

Great post Hermann By the way..........................

"It has been claimed in former threads in this forum that the UN resolution announced dire consequences and that Germany, France and Russia had also supported the resolution." And it did.

"Apparently the guys who posted this seem to forget that the UN chief inspector Hans Blix was in the middle of a successful work when George Dabbljuhh sounded the charge." True, successful in finding violations of international law. He found Al Samoud 2's, breaking 1441.

"At that time NO WMD had been found (because as we know now they don't exist) and the Iraq was fully cooperative (due to the U.S. army that surrounded its border)." True that no WMD were found. But WMD WERE USED against USA troops, so therefore Iraq had WMD. Also Iraq being "fully cooperative" is a LOAD of crap. If they were fully cooperative we would have been handed the Al Samoud 2's and Sarin Gas shells. BUT NO, we had to find Al Samoud 2's and get fired at with SCUD missiles and Shells full of Sarin.

"Hans Blix said he needed more time and he commended the Iraq for his cooperation." Hans Blix obviously didn't consider Iraqs "cooperation" the same as the UN did. Seeing as how "cooperation" obviously meant turning in the banned weapons BEFORE they were found.

"So even when all nations supported resulution 1441 and if dire consequences meant war, it was not correct to attack at that time." So finding banned weapons that Saddam Lied about, wasn't a violation of 1441? Banned weapons (and WMD) were USED, therefore meaning Iraq HAD THEM and LIED about them.

"Many of you will say now that Saddam has had enough time, but as a matter of fact the inspections were abandoned just at their most effective time." Saddam was Giving WAY to much time. We should have started the assault immediately after Al Samoud 2's were found. Also, Saddam obviously could hide weapons better than Hans Blix and his team could find them.

... the Bush administration would have hyped it up to the point of the near extinction of the american civilization.

Meanwhile even the U.S. governmend admits that there are NO MWD in Iraq.

lilroach56 Sep 25, 2004 10:01 AM

huh, when did the USA gov't say there are no WMD in Iraq? and the president couldn't hype this up as all anyone cares about is, when a
USA citizen dies, is injured, or is kidnapped. People have stopped asking about the WMD and are asking "When will the soldiers come home, how many more will die?" and the like.

You are right, the government didn't say "There are none" but "none found so far". The effect is the same in my eyes.

The problem is that you have to stay now. Just imagine the effect you would leave now!

I am a firm opponent of this war but to leave now would be even a bigger mistake.

Fred Albury Sep 27, 2004 05:51 PM

LONG after this war is over...U.S. Soldiers and Iraq citzens are allready showing deformities in their offspring, both those fathered in the US by servicemen that have been in Iraq and by Iraq women. In the air. water and food.....Imagine that here in the U.S. it would be a disaster..and it is for the citzens of that country.

any mention of that little detail as a WMD? Destroying the life of a full term unborn child is like useing a WMD.

Sincerely,

Fred Albury

very true, DU is an extremely unsafe substance. Most of the DU that was in shells is in low population areas like the western and southern deserts. The DU that was spread in this war will do little more than the other toxic substances used in previous wars and biological attacks by Saddam.

Depleted uranium is used for 2 reasons. It is heavy, so it penetrates well. It doesn't mushroom like other materials as it penetrates, so that also helps it penetrate well. This is the reason it is so widely used. It is more effective to use this in artillery that is shot at fortified targets than to use marshmallows!

Did you know that there are servicemen walking around today with depleted uranium in them? And that they have been monitored heavily, and there has been absolutely NO side effects from it?--No kidney damage--the main medical concern, etc.

To date, approximately 1,000 service members have been tested; three were found to have elevated levels of depleted uranium in their urine as a result of embedded fragments in their bodies. The amounts detected in all three are at levels that pose no known risk to their health.

www.ha.osd.mil/asd/du_message.cfm

Did you know that uranium is an extremely common mineral that we come into contact with every day in its natural state, (we even eat some every day in our food!) and that depleted uranium is safer since some of the "radioactivity" has been "depleted" out of it.

Reminds me of some people I used to work with that smoked cigarettes every chace they got, and they complained about the quality of the air in the building and that it might be affecting their health.

(Yes, there are a lot of scare stories out there about this stuff that a lot of the general public believes, but try and find some scientific evidence to back up those stories!)

The depleted uranium stories have been scientifically shown to be frauds, yet these stories persist--at least in the minds of alarmists and the like.
