This is my first snake and He has never had a feeding problem or any other problem but I have a few questions. I think I he is about 6 to eight months old. First he seems to be getting a lot longer but not really any fatter is this normal? Second how do you know how much to feed them at one time? I understand the size limit per mouse but dont know how many to give him. The most a have given him at one time is two big pinkys. Finally I have read a lot of posts about people's corn slowing down on feeding during the winter months but how do they know it is the winter months from the summer months if I keep my apartment at a constant year round temperature. Thank you to anyone that can help me.

First yes it is normal for them to sometimes grow in length first and then width. As for feeding if your snake is 6 months old it should be at least eating fuzzies. And if it is eating pinkies feed it as many as it'll eat once a week. Your snake may begin to recognize the difference between seasons by the changing light cycles. As it is under a year old it will probably not slow down as much as a snake that has experienced the change before. Good luck.

Well...Maybe not AS MANY as it will eat. Also, there are tiny little pinkies, and "large" pinkies, some nearly as large as a fuzzy. If the prey item is making a slight bulge in the snake it is probably fine for now. If not, 2 or possibly 3 would be fine. It's not really a science or anything, and each snake is a bit different. Try to get some larger pinks or some fuzzies and see how your snake does with them. You will be able to use up your supply of pinks first or intermittently. Duffy
