my male red blood just wont eat a rat. I gat him as a hatchling 3 years ago, he ate fine for the first 2 months and then went off food for 8 months. I tried all the standard trick and finally I found that he would eat small pinkie mice, but only one in a sitting. it was just silly they were so small compared to him. anyways he's been eating once a week for the last year and doing good, finally growing. but now he's pretty much outgrown mice but I cant get him on rats. any suggestions?
thanks, jeff

Have you tried scenting the rats with stinky mouse bedding?

Get a few handfuls - you want that rat to be stanky! Make sure there's enough to completely cover the rat in - and let it sit for an hour or so.

Good luck!!!!

Try day-old-chicks. They are much cheaper than rodents at £5.00 for 200 and my Malaysian (Buffy) LOVES chicken! She will take mice, rats and hamsters after picking with her food for a while, but with chicks- WHAM!

PS Don't worry about the poo smell it's no worse than with rodents.

PPS If you do try chicks, keep your fingers out of the way.

Bon apetit
