question for the turtle experts

i just got in a large lot of sliders.one has no eyes,i was going to put it in the freezer.but it seems to be eating ok and is in good health,so i let my boy keep it.is this common in res?genetic?
the reason i ask is because i seen someone selling one in the classifieds on ks for $800

The only thing I can think of is that the temps were a bit too high while he was being incubated. If you notice, the one up for sale on the classifieds also has some extra scutes which also indicates too high of temps while being incubated. I wouldnt say its common or genetic. Just a misshap during incubation. If he's healthy and eating properly I would holed on to him and not cull him. AND I would not sell him either, especially for big money like Turtlesale is doing, its kinda a rip off cus all he is is a regular res just with out yes. He's not a circus freak!

I agree with the other post...I see no reason to do this little guy in. As long as he is eating well and finding the basking area, he's got a great chance at a long and healthy life. And think of the great lessons you could teach your child about those with special needs, and giving them the same opportunities at a full and wonderful life as anyone else!!

Definitely a keeper.
