Ever find an albino snake in the wild? Share your stories!

Hello all,

I figure I'll share my story as well. Back in 99' I was herping with some friends in West Virginia. We found some skinks, some box turtles, a few rat snakes and garter snakes. Then I lifted up a piece of tin, there curled up was an adult albino northern ringneck snake! I grabbed it, it musked and emptied it's bladder in my hands as most ringnecks do from the beginning. The snake is still in my care, well atleast half of the time anyways, it is a female, and she'll take down worms and salamanders just as soon as they are thrown to her. Right now she is about 16 inches in length. She mated this year, with a male from West Virginia, in hopes that the male would have the "albino gene" needed to make the babies albino, instead of normal hets. Well she laid 5 eggs, 4 hatched, all normal colored hets.

So, I know alot of people out there have found albino snakes, so please share your stories.

I found what I swear had to have been a lavander ratsnake in my backyard. I have gray rats commonly around my house...this one was a pure lavander color ALL OVER...looked like it had been spraypainted! lol. I never got a picture and my mom wouldn't let me keep it....damn her!!!!! lol. other than that i've never seen any albinos in the wild....but i've handled a lot of 'em thats for sure!

however ive never seen an albino gray rat for sale even....must be really rear (or ugly one or the other lol).
