New Tegu

charky2002 Sep 23, 2004 05:03 PM

This is my new tegu. From what I have read I think (and hope) its an argentine. The petstore I got him from had no clue whatsoever and i'm still a bit unsure, so if anyone knows for sure . I know the pic is fuzzy sorry. Also how much do you feed your tegus?? This little guy is a bottomless pit so i'm having trouble judging the amount.

Aww.. cute. Looks exactly like my Argentine which I bought almost 2 weeks ago. Mine's downing 4 dozen calcium-dusted 1/2"-3/4" crickets a day or two fuzzies and some fruit. I am amazed by how much this guy eats and I keep beardies too and they eat tons. Bottomless pits is a fitting description.

Really nice Argentine. When they're little, feed them all they'll eat. (You may have to take out a loan!) I have two, and I had to order a second box of 1000 every week just for them. Seriously, when yours looks like it will burst if you feed it any more, give it at least a dozen more crickets. They'll disappear in a heartbeat. Good luck, and enjoy your new bottomless pit!
