Should i begin feeding my dragon more veggies or still a majority of crix? Is she considered an adult yet? Is it normal to slow down a bit when the weather gets colder?
She is considered adult at around a year. She should be eating mostly greens, live prey just a few times a week. She still needs to have her greens supplemented with calcium and vitamins though. She should start slowing down during the winter months and may go to sleep for a few months. It is called brumation, kind of like hibernation. You should cut back her lights during the day to match the light cycle outside, slowly, and then start cutting back more til when she is asleep mostly all day (or all day completely). Her bowels need to be empty before she completely goes to sleep, so make sure she gives a good poop. Once she does go to sleep, just keep a shallow dish of water in with her. Lights do not need to be on at this time. After a couple of months, start turning the lights on again, each week adding a couple of hours, and she should wake up. It is always a good idea to have a fecal exam done at the vet before she enters brumation, to be sure there are no parasites present
