Ooh... purty tegus. Are you keeping them in a vision? Wondering how they're like for keeping tegus... I had a 3' model for beardies but there wasn't much room for substrate and the sand would always get stuck in the track for the doors.

they are only in there temporarily. They will get moved outdoors in the spring. I am going to try and keep them from brumating. I have kept reds in visions for a few months at a time while they are in quarantine. the bottom is bare for now so I can get a stool sample. I will load up the bottom with mulch and mist every morning to keep the humidity up.

Have you ever kept adults in visions? I'm shopping around for cages because I REALLY don't want to build one. I might accidentally drill a hole in my hands or something. A couple years ago I got placed in woodshop, and I ended up gluing all my projects together :X I got a B for my effort.

If you have a small oneyou might squeeze by but I would say bigger is better. I dont know of any cages big enough for a tegu unless you build it yourself. we house all our big lizards outdoors.

Rufus is housed indoors in a 9 1/2 by three by three footcage I built. Go to Home Depot after you have drawn plans and once you know all the large dimensions they will cut the plywood to size. Use 2 x 2's and 2x 4's and a box of screws to put it all together. Pretty durn simple.
