Bumps on back legs and just before base of tail

nickoleye Sep 23, 2004 07:24 PM

I just noticed my dragon has a row of bumps on both of her back legs and just before her tail starts. They almost look like they could be sores, kinda look like the tips of small pencil erasers but they're not a different color or anything. any ideas?

Sounds like femoral pores. Do you have a pic? Are you sure she is a she? Males usually have larger femoral pores than females. Post a pic if you can.

So what are they for? Also, is it normal for him to slow way down on his eating. He hasn't eaten for the past 3 days and just kinda lays around and sleeps even with the lights on.

He is probably starting brumation. Best to take him to the vet with a fecal to rule out parasites first though.

It is definitely not the norm. but it does happen. That is a very good pic so I'm sure you could get a better sexable pic. Follow this link to see what view we need.

You have to lift the tail to almost vertical so the feet are lifted off the ground (or hand). It helps if you rotate it like as if you were rolling or twisting a pencil that you were holding by the eraser in a vertical position with the led pointing down. That, I believe makes blood flow into the hemipenis & makes it more visible.

Good luck & I hope to see some more pics.
