Just thought I would share a pic with you watersnake lovers.....Any guesses??

Took this at the Mingo refuge down in SE MO. Can anyone ID it?? This pic was taken in situ and the snake was about 2.5 - 3' off the ground in the tree. Nice sized, probably close to 4.5' in length.

Northern Watersnake (Nerodia sipedon)? A rather large one at that.

Definitely rhombifer, and I agree, a great picture.

Speaking of diamondbacks ... Pierson how are yours doing?

Oooh...My male escaped into my wall a couple months ago and my female up and died yesterday after regurgitating her last three meals.

I've had a run of bad luck as of late so I'm trying to reduce my collection to mainly clarkii and maybe a few erythrogaster. When my living situation becomes stable I'll be giving floridana and rhombifer another try.

WOW!! My heart beats with yours! You have more discipline than I, that wall would be torn out by now (been there, done it - easy to fix).
And you lost your female yesterday ??!... when my two Taxis' died so suddenly last month I was so ashamed that I did'nt want to come back onto the forum, certainly did'nt want to admit it. I think I'm so smart until I'm slapped by reality.
The upside is that I know that (someone) is studying herpetology and others just rear them with love and fish as I do so, bit by bit I can get smarter as experience is shared.

This is bugging me, good thing I don't live south of here. I'd be over with a wrecking bar and hammer right now, doing some in-house herping! Party at Pierson's ... drinks are on the Hill!

Was down there last weekend and had to revisit the old stomping grounds! Not alot of water as the dry seasons last year and this year have really taken a toll on the habitat. I will make a repeat trip next spring though, and hopefully I will be able to photograph some of the other snakes that are there. Like a mud snake!!
