65 gal reptarium for veileds?

findaratot Sep 23, 2004 08:53 PM

Hi i was wondering if a reptarium would make a good cage for a veiled chameleon the reptarium i'm looking at is 28 x 17 x 30. they say its equivalent to a 65 gallon glass tank.
is that a good size for one adult male? also do you guys like the reptariums made by apogee?
thanks for any help.

You definately want something higher than 30". If you ahve a female cham you can get away with a 3.5' cage, but that is really pushing it. I would go 4'h for a female, or 5' for a male. as far as length and width, 2x2' is good, for a female you can get away with 1.5x2' but again that's cramped. For a male you should go 2x2.5 or 3x2. chams aren't THAT big, but they use up all of their cage if it is properly furnished. mine is 2x2xalmost 4' high, and it is pretty cramped, i have 2 trees that won't fit in the cage that my cham climbs on when i'm home
sorry this is long. I'm tired.. hope it makes sense

the apogee repatariums are good to start with but not good for the long haul...the zippers get all screwed up as the fabric around them starts to get caught in them and you just can't seem to get enough access to the inside of the cage...also be carefull with heat lamps resting on the plastic meshing

it will serve you well for a couple of months before it starts to frustrate the hell out of you and then you'll want to upgrade

yes i have one for my conehead lizard and i hate it. i also dont like how dark the mesh makes the cage even with alot of light, i just dont like the way it looks.
