Out for a stroll on the local military installation this morning, and heard a very slight rustle in the leaves just off the trail:

Nice sighting Chris,
Man that just goes to show you to watch your step and watch were you put your hands. That is a perfect example of how a venomous snake can blend in to it's habitat.

I guess the abbotti have been blending in with my regular mail pretty well...haven't received any from any of my generous CA friends.

It was good to see a copperhead in situ for the first time in over 15 years--not that I've been looking. I'm still a "lizard guy" at heart, but I guess snakes interest more people in fieldherping forums!
