JCP/Gex Q for A Caponetto

deadrats Sep 23, 2004 10:16 PM

My question is whether a JCP can be set up as I would any of the Rhacodactylus species.

I am a neophite regarding snakes. I set up my Queensland gex (Oedura) the same as I set up Rhacs. They do fine, actually I traded monillis to get the carpet. I keep 12 different species of gex, I am completely new to snakes. Trying to apply current husbandry to known habitats. Want to know if this will work out or I am missing something here. I did look at your WEB site and I do not see that there is anything different. Rhacs do dandy w/o constant misting, I only mist if it is convenient or toe pads show signs of incomplete sheds. I have the carpet in the reptile room all the Rhacs are in (they do just fine). I was a bit apprehensive that the baby (about 2 feet) is a bit nippy. But my GT leachie can take half your finger off, so it is really not a problem. When you think about it.

I realize this is some sort of cross post, but you do both, gex and snakes, which prompts my inquiry. I just want to give the animal what it wants.

Personally, I don't think height is as much of a concern with Carpets.

The only other consideration is heat. Carpets need a hot spot of about 90 degrees, whereas Rhacs can't handle that much heat.
